Being honest and vulnerable on social media can feel very unnatural and scary for many of us, but if we don’t share the good with the bad how can we ever live a full and authentic life?
In this episode, pediatrician and Founder of I Was Supposed To Have A Baby, Aimee Baron, shares the story behind her inspiration for building an online platform to provide a warm and nurturing space for those going through infertility, pregnancy loss, infant loss, surrogacy or adoption in the Jewish community.
“We created this for that person crying at 3 a.m. because that person was me,” shares Aimee. Now a source of support and inspiration to others, Aimee utilizes social media and public speaking to offer emotional support and resources for those in the Jewish community who often feel lost, heartbroken, and alone while dealing with some of the most painful experiences a person can survive.
In today’s episode we covered:
Being vulnerable and honest on your social media to form stronger connections with clients and followers.
Utilizing your pain and passion to help others.
Tips and advice for public speaking.

Aimee Baron MD, FAAP, is the Founder and Executive Director of I Was Supposed To Have A Baby. Aimee was formerly the Director of Innovation and Growth at NechamaComfort, and has also worked as an attending pediatrician at the Newborn Nursery and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital before taking a leave of absence after her third miscarriage.
Understanding how important emotional support was in her healing process, Aimee searched for similar resources in the Jewish community, but couldn’t find any that fit perfectly. While there were various community programs, they felt far too public for someone in such a sensitive position. Aimee realized there was a major void there. As both a medical doctor and someone who had experienced infertility, Aimee was uniquely situated to fill this need and that’s how IWSTHAB was born.
In August 2019, Aimee launched the IWSTHAB social media community on Instagram and Facebook to bring emotional support and comfort directly to those who needed it. Aimee lives in the greater New York area with her husband and children and somehow manages to find time to whip up gourmet eats in between Instagram posts.
